Galissas is a seaside village, built in a natural harbour. It is located on the
western side of the island of Syros about 7 km from the capital, Ermoupolis. It
is the first coastal village that has developed for tourism, on the island. The
name is ancient Greek.
On the left side is the picturesque chapel of Saint Pakous and the remains of
the fortified town which has existed since the 6th century BC. Along with
Ermoupolis, Galissas was the most important archaic and classical center of
Syros
